Scenes from the Gutter

June 28, 2008

No CF report is complete without some scenes from the one place where its all happening. The Gutter Bar is as always the place to find the last refuge after a busy day and where everyone happily pays 10 euros for a bottle of beer. Sometimes we hope that no-one remembers what happened but thanks to the Fringe team nobody is safe. We even found another lions winer. Well I guess the gutter is as good as any place to celebrate. Nice one..
Check it out and yes… Viva Africa ???

CF Exclusive !! Shots Magazine Beach Party

June 21, 2008

Cannes Fringe got exclusive access to the best party in town again. The Shots party was as always rocking.
Great music, loads of people and a lot of dancing. Shame about the French bar staff who never heard of ice and lemon !! So we had to put up with warm and flat G&T’s all night. But hey thanks to our friends at shots we got ample supply of drink vouchers so we shouldn’t complain. We also bumped into Lyndy the editor of shots mag who was clearly enjoying the party as well….:)….
cheers guys.

CF at the Massive / Getty party….

June 20, 2008

Beach Party Time
We bring you exclusive footage from Massive Music / Getty Images party on Wednesday night in Cannes. As always the place was packed. We were once again being bullied by the security at the door but managed to explain to them that a Panasonic HVX200 is not a suicide device and we are not filming for a terrorist organization. Once inside the party got going and we even found a real Lion winner. Boy was she happy….
And after all that we even had to pay for our drinks… Whats all that about…
Enjoy.

China hits Cannes (Fringe Exclusive !!!)

June 16, 2008

C.H.I.N.A at Cannes 08

The party was held on the Carlton beach, and apart from the door staff being over energetic and stopping some very important folk in, such as one big shot from Mindshare - who eventually stormed off in a huff, the actual event inside looked a right proper success.
Saatchi & Saatchi China, supported by our new friends at Publicis PR put on the event to highlight and welcome the emerging Chinese advertising market, and Terry Savage was there too to welcome eastern delegates to the festival, and to rightly point out to us how we should all start to look east for fresh inspiration and new opportunities.
As to our comments on the event, it all looked good from the fringe, the location was top notch the people seemed to be all talking energetically and business seemed to be getting done. So lets all join in and say a big Cannes welcome to our new Chinese Advertising friends.

A Fringe overview of the Golden Drum Festival 2007

October 18, 2007

The Golden Drum Awards is in its 14th year now and has established itself as one of the more significant advertising festivals in the world. Basing itself in Eastern Europe it has grown up out of the turmoil’s that the region has suffered in the past and is now recognized not only a European manifestation but also an important event noticed throughout the world. This year Cannes Fringe is broadcasting the event from the beautiful seaside port of Portoroz in Slovenia.

The Festival has grown from strength to strength and the larger it grows the more debate that takes place about the industry both positive and negative. This year the organizers have set the discussion based around the concept of “Beyond Horizons”. In true Golden Drum style they have opened the debate to the floor and have oraganized a Sunday afternoon of “Free” conversation called “Prologue” which we hope will uncover and unleash some of the more important theories and directions that the industry needs to undertake.

One thing is for sure at the International Golden Drum Festival that over the last ten years or so it has always been seen as a well-organized and friendly festival where countless long-lasting professional and business ties have been formed. It is an event which brings the world closer to the creativity that is growing out of the region and allows the by increasing the awareness year by year of this in turn creates more fluid industry relationships and trade both on the domestic and international stage.

The Fringe believes it is significant and as a result will be there reporting on all that occurs!
