Soho Shorts opening night !!
July 24, 2008
LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! RUSHES SOHO SHORTS SETS OFF WITH A BANG
The internationally acclaimed Rushes Soho Shorts Festival (www.sohoshorts.com) hosted its launch party at The Movieum last night, celebrating its 10th successful year bringing cutting edge short film to the heart of London.
The evening proved a great success with two great introductory speeches from festival director Joe Bateman, and managing director of Rushes and festival founder, Joce Capper. The evening was held amidst some of Hollywood’s best-known characters, with guests mingling with the likes of Superman and Star Wars’ R2-D2, in the former home of London’s Government, South Bank’s beautiful County Hall building.
This marks the start of ten fully-packed days, promoting exciting new film talent across all genres. There will be daily screenings in cinemas, clubs and bars around Soho, including Joseph Fiennes’ entrant, “Soldier” and up and coming director and newcomer, Dewi Bruce-Konuah, with his take on gun crime in short film, ‘Showdown’.
Renowned director of makeup artistry for MAC Cosmetics, Terry Barber teams up with film archivist Jenny Hammerton to unravel the mystic behind classic cinematic looks with their master-class on Saturday 26th, and the original singer/songwriter from Ultravox, John Foxx will be performing and giving a talk on Friday 25th at the Apple Store in Regents Street.
Rushes Soho Shorts Festival provides a great platform for the development of existing and emerging film talent and is not to be missed. The week will end on a high note, with the awards ceremony at Café De Paris - a red carpet night of celebrities, glitz and glamour to close the 2008 festival.

Rushes dinner in Cannes
July 7, 2008
As always the Rushes dinner at the beautiful hilltop villa in Super Cannes was a great success. The event was what you could call a networking heaven, reps, agency folk, directors prod co peeps, and talent all over the place. The rushes Villa Dinners are now a real main stay of the Cannes Fringe Calendar, more more we say - and anyone who’s anyone should really try and get an invite to these intemate networking events. We hang out and enjoyed the food and drinks as well as the view. CF spoke to Steve Davies from the APA and to Miss Rushes herself, Joce Capper.
Scenes from the Gutter
June 28, 2008
No CF report is complete without some scenes from the one place where its all happening. The Gutter Bar is as always the place to find the last refuge after a busy day and where everyone happily pays 10 euros for a bottle of beer. Sometimes we hope that no-one remembers what happened but thanks to the Fringe team nobody is safe. We even found another lions winer. Well I guess the gutter is as good as any place to celebrate. Nice one..
Check it out and yes… Viva Africa ???
CF Exclusive at the Leo Burnett Party
June 27, 2008
Once again the Leo Burnett party was the hottest ticket in town. CF got exclusive access this year to show you what all the fuss was about. As always the place was rocking and Norman Jay was once again the MC. Check out the interview with the guy behind the photo booth rental company Usnaps.com. His booth was the main attraction at the party and all the pictures can be seen on www.wildfire2008.com.
Great fun and great idea. Thumbs up from the Fringe. And a big thank you to the guys form Leo Burnett for embracing the Fringe.
Keep it up.
Did you see the Dwarfs ??
June 27, 2008
For those of you who saw dwarfs at the shots party last week…. Rest assured. You were not dreaming. Drunk but not dreaming. We found the evidence and have proof that they are very real.
Our friends at Comunicattore in Milan, Italy are behind this. This funny blog had us all reliving the moment. Great idea and good fun. Nice work guys and welcome to the fringe.
