A full day of RSSF part 1

Rushes challenged the CF team to cover all event during the busiest day of the RSSF 08. So we sent our man “ED Trousers” out with the crew to bring us all the stories and news form the whole day. It was a busy day of screenings, seminars and events with a massive awards party to round of the proceedings. In fact Ed got so into it we had to cut it into 3 films. Here is the 1st one.

APA Young Directors Showcase

Part of this years RSSF was the 1st London screening of the Cannes Young Directors awards, another Cannes Fringe event that’s now going global. CF covered the screening and got interviews with the people behind it all.

Rushes Soho Shorts screens Straight8

CF brings you exclusive clips and interviews form the Straight8 screening on Monday night as part of the Rushes/Soho Shorts film festival.

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! RUSHES SOHO SHORTS SETS OFF WITH A BANG

The internationally acclaimed Rushes Soho Shorts Festival (www.sohoshorts.com) hosted its launch party at The Movieum last night, celebrating its 10th successful year bringing cutting edge short film to the heart of London.

The evening proved a great success with two great introductory speeches from festival director Joe Bateman, and managing director of Rushes and festival founder, Joce Capper. The evening was held amidst some of Hollywood’s best-known characters, with guests mingling with the likes of Superman and Star Wars’ R2-D2, in the former home of London’s Government, South Bank’s beautiful County Hall building.

This marks the start of ten fully-packed days, promoting exciting new film talent across all genres. There will be daily screenings in cinemas, clubs and bars around Soho, including Joseph Fiennes’ entrant, “Soldier” and up and coming director and newcomer, Dewi Bruce-Konuah, with his take on gun crime in short film, ‘Showdown’.

Renowned director of makeup artistry for MAC Cosmetics, Terry Barber teams up with film archivist Jenny Hammerton to unravel the mystic behind classic cinematic looks with their master-class on Saturday 26th, and the original singer/songwriter from Ultravox, John Foxx will be performing and giving a talk on Friday 25th at the Apple Store in Regents Street.

Rushes Soho Shorts Festival provides a great platform for the development of existing and emerging film talent and is not to be missed. The week will end on a high note, with the awards ceremony at Café De Paris - a red carpet night of celebrities, glitz and glamour to close the 2008 festival.
