CF at the Straight8 screening in Cannes

CF went down to the Straight8 screening. We spoke to some of the filmmakers about how to go about it and why this is a special competition. Everything is possible. Even a dead chicken can be the star !!!!
We also spoke to Grant Hill who is the Global Production Director of DDB Worldwide who talks about purity and core values.

CF at the Werbeweischer Party

Cannes Fringe got exclusive access to the Werbeweischer Party again and spoke to the man himself Florian Weischer about Cannes 08 and the success of the German ad industry.
Speaking of German success we also happen to see the German football team do one over Ronaldo and his mates… 
Nice. Someone also tells us why the Germans are not only good a building cars and also have a sense of humor. Not so sure about that one.. Hell I am German but when it comes to funny ads you got to hand it to the British. But I take football anytime.

Fireflies arrive in Cannes 2008

Once again the mighty Fireflies did it again.
This time it was over 70 riders. What started with a handful of people 8 years ago has turned into an amazing event. So far they raised over £ 600,000 for Leuka. All the money goes straight into Leukaemia and cancer research and every single rider has to give it everything to make it over these mountains. Cannes Fringe as always has brought you daily films of the trip and we hope that once you see these films it will only encourage you to go and donate as much as you can yourself.

CF Exclusive !! Shots Magazine Beach Party

Cannes Fringe got exclusive access to the best party in town again. The Shots party was as always rocking.
Great music, loads of people and a lot of dancing. Shame about the French bar staff who never heard of ice and lemon !! So we had to put up with warm and flat G&T’s all night. But hey thanks to our friends at shots we got ample supply of drink vouchers so we shouldn’t complain. We also bumped into Lyndy the editor of shots mag who was clearly enjoying the party as well….:)….

CF had a very nice chat with Toygar who is the CCO from BBDO in Duesseldorf Germany. He was pretty chilled having just won a Lion for Radio. Nice one, but who still listens to Radio ??

Cannes Fringe brings you an exclusive film from the YDA2008 in Cannes.
We got interviews with the winners and clips of the films. Also some familiar faces who’ve been there, done that kind of thing.
Check out the smile on the winners faces… Unfortunately nobody has told them they are entering a dead industry where thousands of directors would give their left arm to get a job. So congratulations to the winners and long may they smile but please don’t give up the day job guys. There is no money in this and agency’s are already writing up the brief.. “crap budget but this would be great for your reel and if you do that for us we will keep you in mind fir the future..”. My ass..
CF parties with the South Africans

CF was invited by the South African Film Commission and Condor Post to hang out on the beach and enjoy their famous hospitality. Great food and booze. Footie on the beach. All around great fun and great peeps. Watch this space for some news on 2010 World Cup. The Fringe just might go themselves some tickets :)..
