Cannes Fringe at the Midsummer Awards
July 9, 2007
On Friday 6th July the Midsummer Awards were held at the Hurlingham Club in South London. Cannes Fringe was there to cover the event. Set in the beautiful grounds on the Hurlingham Club, this awards show stands alone as a yearly boutique event that steers away from the sterile formality of some of its counterparts…
Although the dress code was black tie, the atmosphere was not. Considering Cannes is still very much in the back of people’s minds, this event, obviously on a smaller scale, does not pretend to be anything like what we see in the south of France each year…and maybe thats a good thing. We were shown a variety of TV spots, most of them of high quality, and without the confusion of whether this is one fits into Cyber/Titanium/Intergrated…?
It was a relaxed atmosphere and we partied with the winners into the small wee hours of the night. Fallon seemed to come away with the most success on the night and scooped the Agency of the Year award ahead of all the rest.
So below is our coverage of the event along with a selection of the spots that won Gold Awards on the evening.
