About this vlog and our friends….

About 3 years ago Asa and myself were planning our annual pilgrimage to Cannes for the Adfest. As usual money was tight and since neither of us are fit enough to cycle there, buying plane tickets was the only option. So how can we get other people to pay for our flights and hotel we wondered !!! I know lets set up our own awards… The Cannes Viral Awards were born… We got a couple of pounds together by throwing words like New Media, Digital, Viral and Content at people who liked hearing them. Got ourself a venue (bar) in Cannes, printed a bunch of fliers and stuck some virals on a screen. All in All I think we had about 6 people (including organizers) showing up.

That was 3 years ago…..

Back in London we regrouped and wondered what went wrong….So we came up with the Cannes Podacst idea. Quickly we got online and secured www.cannesadvertisingfestival.com !! (I know ?!?!) and set up meetings to find potential sponsors. Everyone loved the idea and our friends at Shots were totally up for it. We talked about one big sponsor who would get behind it all (yes pay for flights, hotel, etc…you guessed it). That never happened … To much money not enough time …

So this year we said lets make it a vlog about the Cannes Advertising Festival, get media partners first (Shots, Contagious) and then go to see our friends in the “industry” and get them to support it with little donations towards the cause. All said and done. We got the media, the sponsors and we booked the flights and the villa (yes with pool). The site is up and running and we have a great team of camera men, reporters and producers on board to make this happen. Finally after 3 years it looks like we got it right.

Cannes 07 here we come……
